The Writers Block open mic celebrating "Women's History Month"
Another success to the Writers Block open mic Thursday night March 18th. Our featured artist of the night was the Writers Block own "Isis OrigiNile" a.k.a. "ION" She played a Nina Symone song, read her great poetry and shared excerpts from her upcoming novel. We enjoyed an open discussion and a question and answer period. Shout outs to the birthday girl "ION". The open mic segment was good as well. There were performances by Writers Block members Jacquese Armstrong, Agar Fusion, Ame' Lamar, Henry Busby, Nancy O, Deborah "The Dictator" Chainey, T'noodle the young poet wit an old soul and Sankofa aka "Honey", Angel Martinez who is also a member of the Writers Block/The Bread Is Rising Poetry Collective/ Precious Promise Arts circle came from NY to show us love and give support to our featured artist "ION". There were new faces that performed True Laif, Will Strong among others. Special thanks to the audience supporters, other new faces who performed on the open mic and Drew Patch owner of Namaste' Cafe' where the Writers Block hosts its open mics. Check us out April 15th 7-9pm as we celebrate "National Poetry Month." Saturday, May 15th 2-4:30pm will start the Saturday Writers Block open mic series- September. The feature will be the very talented spoken word artist "teertS"! Mark your calendars and see you at the "Block" Writers that is.
