The next Writers Block was scheduled for Saturday, June 13th has been canceled.  However we will gather in Donaldson Park, Highland Park NJ for a potluck open mic on Saturday, July 18th 6:00-8:00pm.  Performers wanted! Updates and announcements

The Writers Block 6th year anniversary celebration and open mic this past March was wonderful.  It was a small and intimate gathering where the Writers Block paid tribute to our former beloved member Isis Origi Nile. There were performances and lots of great memories shared about Isis Origi Nile.  Heru Arkhet shared, Naomi Wallace Baxter, Deborah "The Dictator' Chainey mentor and founder of The Precious Promise Arts Circle reflected on her memories of Isis, Makizworth, Cynthia Blue, Burt Miglino a PPAC player, Erik Spector, Drew Patch, Arnette Phipps, Jaz, Aisha Crawley, Susan Miller, Guests two guests of Cynthia Blue shared a poem or spoke of the memories they had of Isis. She was a great person with a good heart.  She will continue to be missed but her memory, gifts and talents will continue to live on. Until next March when we gather again to honor her memory cont to RIP Origi Nile! Gone but never forgotten!

The Writers Block celebrates its sixth year anniversary open MIC. When: Saturday, March 21,2014. 4-6pm at the New Brunswick Hub Teen Center. We will also pay tribute and honor the memory of beloved member Isis Origi Nile. This event is free. Performers needed. Wanted: Singers, Rappers, Dancers, Musicians and Poets. Hello, It's been quite awhile since my last blog. The Writers Block has not been down for the count. In fact we will be celebrating our sixth year anniversary. We will also honor the memory of beloved member Isis Origi Nile who passed away two years ago Jan 20,2013. The Writers Block has had the pleasure of being on WRSU Rutgers Radio African New Dawn show. Once May 2014 and returned again for Kwanzaa show December 28,2014. It was a wonderful experience for us. Also November 16,2014 the Writers Block was apart of a great eveent. It was called an evening of jazz singing and spoken word at Venue 1850 in Somerset,NJ. The event was a success! In the 2015 year the Writers Block hopes to accomplish more big things. Soooo if you have talent come out and help us celebrate our sixth year anniversary. No explicit content.
