The Writers Block Year End Open Mic~ Thursday, November 19th

On Thursday evening November 19th, The Writers Block hosted the last open mic for the 2009 season.  It was a grrrrreat success! It was held at the Namaste' Cafe' & Juice Bar.  The turn out was wonderful! Full house with a line to get in.  I would like to thank Zakiyia Forbes of the Lounge Society, Ame' Lamar fellow WBPC member, Drew Patch owner of Namaste' Cafe' for helping me with promoting this event.  I thank God for allowing this event to be the success that it was.  There was performances by new faces such as local poet Trudy, a teenager name Brea, David Robinson the grandson of Ame' Lamar. Who did a nice trumpet performance and a rap.  Performances by I call vets "Tane'ah T'Noodle did a collaboration poem with Sankofa aka Honey both young poets wit old soul, Writers Block member Nancy O. shared her political poetry, Joseph Miller former member of "Grounded Voices" came and shared his poetry, teertS stopped by and did an excellent performance as usual! Silent Knight was also in the house and performed his signature poem "Hunger Strike", Mryna Lloyd gave us a soulful gospel inspiring songs. Bob Murphy new member of the Writers Block came by after a long hiatus.  Other performances included Erik Spector, Agar Fusion who did some poetry this go around and then shared his signature beat boxing abilities!  There were other talent poets who performed. Sorry no pics of this event. :( I was caught up in the moment of hosting and listening to the talent. Hopefully if he is available sometime next year the other big dawg Taalam Acey  will be able to perform at the "Block" open mic. Can you send me your schedule Taalam please? The Writers Block would love to have you perform your works.  Thanks to the Writers Block supporters The Black Circle Symphony, Silent Knight, teertS, Karl McClean of Heshima Academy for supporting the Writers Block events when able, all the Writers Block members! I could not do this without your help! Thanks again to Deborah "the dictator" Chainey for having faith in me :)
